Welcome to the website of the Forest Radio Model Club. The club was established in 1976 and has been located at various sites over the years.

We now fly in a superb field in Woolaston near Lydney. Please refer to the map page if you wish to pay us a visit.

The following pages are intended to give newcomers an introduction to the club and to update existing members with news and items for sale etc.

The Forest Radio Model Club is registered with the British Model Flying Association and all of our members are insured through the BMFA. This ensures that we act safely, responsibly and legally because although people sometimes regard model aircraft as toys, the aircraft we fly have the potential to do serious damage and cause serious injury.

Our club members mainly fly sport and scale aeroplanes but our helicopter contingent is steadily expanding too.

We welcome flyers of all abilities and several of our members are registered with the BMFA as instructors for both aeroplanes and helicopters. We are happy to take newcomers from their very first steps in the hobby to the point where they can fly solo. We also have two registered examiners in the club, should you wish to progress to the point of taking proficiency tests for the BMFA A, B and C certificates.

We teach via buddy box leads whereby the instructor can take control from the student at any time thereby minimising the risk of damage to the model should the student lose control.

Just as importantly, we are happy to provide advice to newcomers with regard to good first purchases and our proactive, friendly attitude can help save you time, hassle and money.
